About this tool
Vimshottari Dasha is the most widely used system of planetary periods in Vedic astrology. It runs in a 120-year cycle shared by nine planets, and the planet that starts your cycle is decided by the Moon's nakshatra at birth.
Each Mahadasha (major period) is divided into Antardashas and these into Pratyantar. Tradition says the planet in charge colours the themes of that time, and how it is placed in your chart shapes the result.

What does "dasha at birth" mean?
You are born part-way through a Mahadasha. The first period shown is the one running at birth, and only its remaining part is lived.
How accurate is the date of a dasha change?
It depends on the birth time. The Moon moves about 13 degrees a day, so a few minutes of error can move a dasha date by days.
Is a dasha good or bad?
No dasha is simply good or bad. Its effect depends on the planet's sign, house and strength in your whole chart.
